The Role of Plants
To the tune of: "Little Brown Jug"

Play Verse 1

Insects, mammals, birds, and plants
Don't do what they do by chance.
With water, weather, earth, and air
They form the world that people share.

Chorus: Each one is an element
Of the same environment
Forms of life naturally
Live interdependently.

Play Verse 2

Plants keep the soil in its place.
The soil's richness they replace.
Food for all they provide,
And places animals live and hide.

Chorus: Each one is an element
Of the same environment
Forms of life naturally
Live interdependently.

Play Verse 3

Foods and fibers, fuel and wood,
Medicines that do us good—
Many things we need to live
Come from things the plants can give.

Chorus: Each one is an element
Of the same environment
Forms of life naturally
Live interdependently.

Play Verse 4

Plants make the food most creatures eat.
They give us shade from summer's heat
Produce the oxygen we share
Enrich the soil and keep it there.

Chorus: Each one is an element
Of the same environment
Forms of life naturally
Live interdependently.
