Temperate Rainforest Scrapbook
Tree StiltsLook closely at some of the bigger trees in the forest. See the stilts? We discovered that these stilts were made as the roots of the saplings grew stronger and stronger and the nurse log finally rotted away. It take years and years for nurse logs to rot in the rainforest, because the climate is cool. So once the nurse log is gone, the new trees are often left on stilts.

Group in Quinault RainforestAt the end of the day, the kids sent us on our way. Next stop an hour away -- the Hoh Rainforest!
